Introduction

Computer Classroom

Through its consulting program, Educational Technology Outreach shares its knowledge resources with local school systems, University units, and corporate and non-profit organizations interested in educational issues.

The twenty-first century is proving to be one where Americans are embarking on a journey of unimaginable change in which new information technologies are reinvigorating, reinventing, and redefining both education and society

ETO offers consultation in:

  • Policy Formation: ETO helps establish IT policy initiatives which combine interest from academia, cultural organizations, business groups and government in order to transform education through technology use and integration
  • Research & Evaluation: ETO helps develop technology integration strategies validated by research; explores technology applications for the educational setting; uses scientific evidence in decisions about educational technology use; utilizes technology tools for data based instruction to support student achievement; develops individualized teacher and administrator PD assessment tools; explores cultural and gender differences towards technology use; puruses integration strategies utilizing Kirkpatrick's model to evaluation PD experience.
  • Qualitative Research:
  • Professional Development: ETO works to help educators to become integrate technology effectively, as well as develop a pedagogy that increases student use of technology by integrating it throughout the curriculum
  • Curriculum Development & Evaluation: ETO develops new curriculum and supporting materials, modules/courses, workshops & institutes; consults with content specialists on curriculum development and revision; individualizing materials for local school systems, classes, and student populations; reviews and evaluates curriculum and supporting classroom materials; develops customized programs; and specialized cultural and gender sensitive materials and strategies.
  • Customized Programs: ETO develops individualized programs that speak to the specific needs and interests of your organization. Program time frame, materials, activities, and exercises are tailored to your organizations needs.
  • Curriculum Innovation: In collaboration with College of Education faculty, ETO helps design course materials and workshops that advance learning-by-doing, inquiry-based education, project and portfolio assessment methodologies, and ways to facilitate autonomous study.
  • Digital Diversity: In collaboration with College of Education faculty, ETO designs course materials and workshops that explore means of incorparating diversity issues in course design. Current research includes learners as design partners, Latino technology use, and gender differences toward technology.
